Consumer Energy

Subtype

Definition: Crypto-assets representing ownership or claims over units of energy produced or stored, particularly at the consumer level.

Description

These tokens correspond to measurable quantities of energy (e.g., kWh) generated by distributed renewable energy systems. They are used for trading actual energy output, not just certificates or credits.

Example

SunContract NFTs are digital assets that represent ownership of individual solar panels within a functioning solar farm. While all users are entitled to solar revenues, Slovenian residents also have the option to directly use the energy generated. In this sense, the model bridges tokenized asset ownership with tangible renewable energy production.
