Regen Atlas' green asset mapping is based on the green crypto-asset taxonomy introduced by as part of the in October 2023.
Regen Atlas' asset mapping follows key principles outlined in Ecofrontiers' asset chapter:
Composable: A single crypto-asset can serve multiple roles across institutions and protocols. For instance, crypto-assets can be used to produce stablecoins through various governance systems, enabling new cryptoeconomic systems like a “green currency” backed by renewable energy projects.
Adaptable: Crypto-assets can evolve over time, changing their properties, utilities, and regulatory definitions. For example, a natural capital asset might automatically adjust its supply based on real-world conditions. This adaptability has prompted legal considerations, such as the evolving classification of Ethereum.
Modular: Green crypto-assets can be designed independently and combined to represent different aspects of a conservation or restoration area. This modularity allows for a flexible, customized approach to environmental initiatives, enabling multiple assets to address specific ecological goals within a single territory.
